In this 3-day workshop you will be exploring how the Bonny Doon hydraulic press can be used to create a small scale, three-dimensional vessel.

The workshop will familiarize you with the press and with the following techniques:

  • designing a vessel
  • texturing/patterning metal with pattern plates using the rolling mill
  • creating your silhouette die from cast acrylic
  • pressing your metal to create two symmetrical halves
  • preparing your halves for soldering (removing flange, filing, refining, fitting, et. al.)
  • soldering your vessel
  • refining, finishing, polishing

We will consider and discuss bails for attaching the piece to a chain.  However, we most likely will not have time to fabricate these.
