What Students Are Saying

When we signed up with OQZO to take a metalsmithing class, we had a ton of questions. Lynn took the time to call us to go over everything we had and to make sure we were in the proper class as newbies. During the class, she was very patient, when questions were asked off track she answered them and then got us right back on track. She did not rush us, helped us in any way we needed, and knew how to resolve any problems we were having. She allowed our creativity in the pieces we made and always complimented and encouraged us along the way.

Lynn was extremely knowledgeable and helped us gain knowledge as we worked on our skills. She included a list of items we needed to get started as well as her school discount. We appreciate all the help and knowledge she gave us and look forward to working with Lynn in the future. Her studio is any metalsmith's dream. She has everything you could ever need and was very helpful in explaining what all the items were for. Thank you, Lynn. We will see you soon.

"Upon arriving at the studio, I was welcomed by the sheer loveliness of the location and by Utah (studio cat). Lynn generously provided an environment that settled my nerves and far exceeded my expectations with each new skill she patiently taught to me. I left the studio with rings I am proud to wear and show my friends, along with a newfound excitement to build a studio in my backyard in order to continue the art of metalsmithing.

The studio surroundings promote the ability to learn and build confidence in order to create beautiful pieces. Lynn showed multiple ways to perform a skill with different tools. This provided additional insight into the skill and what tools I would need at my studio to complete the project. "

“I stumbled across OQZO while looking to take a jewelry class on a whim and one weekend class has turned into 2 awesome years of metalsmithing and making jewelry. When taking a class with Lynn, she doesn’t just teach you the how—she also teaches you the why behind every step and multiple ways of approaching what you want to create.

The studio is equipped with every tool you need and Lynn will always do her best to get anything she doesn’t have already. Not only is the studio an excellent place to learn the ins and outs of making jewelry, it’s fun, safe, and welcoming place and I can’t recommend it enough.”

“An absolute hidden wonderland I am forever grateful to have stumbled upon! OQZO metalsmith studio is an idyllic place to explore creativity-spacious & beautifully organized with multiple jewelry books for inspiration, an assortment of metals, and a treasure chest full of gemstones to choose from if you don’t bring your own.

Lynn is the best teacher I have ever had anywhere. I came to the studio as a beginner and now, 3 years later, make my living off of what I’ve been taught. Lynn’s gift of understanding students’ needs and the ability to explain a process multiple ways until it is understood is key to an extraordinary teacher. Her patience, knowledge, and humor make taking one of her classes a unique experience that will keep you coming back for more! Home sweet studio.”

“I was so excited about taking Lynn’s class and she did not disappoint me. As a complete novice, I was given clear instruction, support, and a very patient demeanor by Lynn. In her calm, easy manner, she guided me through a well planned lesson to teach and reinforce the skills needed for a beginner in silversmithing. As a retired school principal, I am skilled in evaluating teaching skills. Lynn would earn a perfect score as a teacher and a blue ribbon as an artist, which makes her workshop the perfect place for anyone to learn!”

OQZO Metalsmith is a great place to learn all the ins and outs of making jewelry and working with metal. Lynn is always willing to help and teach different metalsmithing methods in ways that are easy to understand. I’ve taken classes with her as well used the open studio for over two years, and both are amazing. I would definitely recommend Lynn and her studio if you’re curious about making jewelry or are experienced and need a place to call your studio.

"I have always had a keen interest in jewelry, and for many years I have wanted to learn how to craft my own pieces. I am influenced by styles ranging from modern to ancient, but I have a particular interest in ancient jewelry design. OQZO Metalsmith has given me the opportunity to explore a variety of construction techniques as I learn to bring my ideas to life."
