This workshop will allow you to explore the versatility and playfulness of wearable hollow forms. You will learn how to integrate elements such as dapping, layering/fabrication, depth, texture, and tube setting.
Students will work in copper to practice with. Students can make finished pieces both in copper and sterling silver. All material is included as well as a 4mm faceted stones.
Day 1
The first day we will familiarize ourselves with the concept of hollow forms through discussion and examples. There will be a demonstration on texture techniques as well as dapping and sweat soldering. Students will go through the whole process of designing their piece before beginning.
Day 2
There will be demonstrations on tube setting, bale making, and pin backs. Between demonstrations, there will be plenty of assisted work time. We will end with finishing techniques, and discuss possibilities of adding hinges and moving parts.
